Economic Development Rate Announced:

NPPD is pleased to announce a new electric rate designed for large energy users. The new wholesale economic development rate took effect May 1, 2012, and offers eligible prospective or expanding customers a discounted electric rate for up to five years. At the present time, this rate is expected to allow the flexibility to offer a delivered rate of 4.5 cents per kilowatt or less.

NPPD's economic development rate establishes a discounted wholesale energy rate that is available to a wholesale customer serving an eligible end-use customer. The retail rate received by the end-use customer consists of the discounted wholesale energy component, along with standard system costs for transmission as well as specific distribution system costs established by the retail provider.

To qualify for the rate, the customer must take retail service from NPPD or one of NPPD's wholesale customers AND meet the following criteria:

 * Have a projected new or additional electrical load of 10 megawatts or greater
 * Have a minimum monthly load factor of 75 percent
 * Hold a contract with the State of Nebraska to receive economic development incentives under the Nebraska Advantage Act -- a state economic development program that establishes criteria such as investment, job creation, etc.

NPPD has an experienced economic development team ready to provide you with confidential site selection assistance. Working in conjunction with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (NDED) and our customer communities, we can help you find the ideal location for your business.
